WoW Death Knight

The WoW Warrior Strength and Weaknesses

If you are not sure what class to pick when starting World of Warcraft or if you are looking for a strong alt, you can find a simple analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each class here. Since the classes are so different, choosing the right character from the start can you save a great deal of time.

WoW Warrior Strengths

  • Can wear mail from the start and plate at level 40.
  • Great tank class, especially when using a shield and going deep into the Protection tree.
  • One of the better classes to use for blacksmithing since warriors can use both the armor and weapons made with this profession.
  • Can be a force damage wise with a good two-handed weapon and a build focused on the Arms tree or two good 1 handed weapons and a build focused on the Fury tree.
  • Can equip almost any type of weapon in the game (only exception being wands) whereas other classes are more restricted. For example, a shaman can not use a sword and a Paladin can not use a bow.
  • Very high hit point.
  • Ability to switch roles in mid combat from DPS to Tanking.

WoW Warrior Weaknesses

  • Depends on rage too much.
  • Not a broad class.
  • Not the highest melee damage dealer.
  • More equipment dependant than other classes.
  • Dependency on the healing of other classes.
  • Somewhat limited in PvP due to the range and magic of other classes.
  • No way to reduce threat.
  • No significant ability to hea.

WoW Warrior Characteristics

So you are thinking about playing a WoW Warrior? As a warrior you will find yourself right in the middle of the action.  A Warrior’s ability to stand toe to toe with any enemy and take huge amounts of damage is in a class by itself. A Warrior also has the ability stun, disarm and reflect enemy spells. The WoW Warrior’s Primary roles are that of a Tank or as a Melee DPS. One of the WoW Warrior’s greatest assets is the ability to tank many instances and mobs with specializing as a Protection Warrior. The WoW Warrior class is a very easy class to start and play but can be very difficult to master.

Flavor

Not all Warriors are tanks but you will need to decide if tanking is something you want to do. Often times you will be asked to tank for a group and that usually means setting targets and the pace of play. Although this does not always mean leading the group there is an added amount of responsibility involved, and not all players are comfortable with that. No other class has a wider choice of armor or weapons. WoW Warriors have the ability to wear just about any armor including plate (at level 40). WoW Warriors also have the ability to equip just about any weapon and have the ability to dual wield weapons (at level 20) As a DPS Warrior there will be times when a Tank might be taking too much damage and be killed. This could be your time to shine, with your ability to quickly equip a shield and switch to defensive stance you could provide the critical seconds that the party needs to down a mob or boss and prevent a wipe.

WoW Warrior PvP and Abilities

PvE and PvP

The WoW Warrior Class can provide a lot of benefit to both PvE and PvP.  In PvE as well as PvP the  WoW Warrior can supply the group with much needed buffs such as Battle Shout which adds attack power to your group members or Commanding Shout which adds additional health to your party. WoW Warriors also have the ability to apply debuffs to your enemies. Demoralizing Shout reduces the attack power of all enemies in a 10 yard radius. Thunder Clap decreases the time between your enemy’s attacks, and Sunder Armor reduces your targets armor for everyone in your group. The WoW Warrior also has a great arsenal of crowd control abilities, such as Hamstring which slows and enemy down and Piercing Howl which dazes your enemies and reduces their movement speed. In PvP one of your greatest tools is the ability to Intercept which allows you to charge your enemy, closing the distance with your opponent in the blink of an eye and stunning them briefly.

Defining Abilities

The WOW Warrior Class has 3 stances to choose from: Battle Stance, Defensive Stance and Berserker Stance. Battle Stance is the most balanced stance with a good range of offensive and defensive abilities. Defensive Stance focuses on the ability to take large amounts of damage, and produce threat on single or multiple mobs. Berserker Stance focuses purely on offense. As a WoW Warrior you are able to take a huge amount of damage while also having the ability to taunt an enemy or slow them down when another in your party takes agro.  In the end game a WoW Warrior can be one of the strongest damage dealing classes and many encounters are made much easier when you have a class that has the ability to fill in when you need a second off tank for a specific encounter.
